Vernon Mitchell Penland, 86, of Wonder Lake, IL passed away on July 22, 2021. He was born on March 28, 1935 to the late William and Hatttie (Morrow) Penland in Knoxville, TN. He married Constance L. (Shaw) Musiol Penland on December 16, 1961.
Vernon is survived by his wife Constance, his children C. Daniel (Connie) Penland, Catherine L. (Cole) Whitney, Victoria M. (James) Chiluk-Koeune. Stepchildren Martin J. Musiol and Michael J. (Lori) Musiol. Grandchildren Amber Penland, Sean Whitney, Lauren Whitney, Austin Chiluk, Aaron Chiluk, Nicholas Chiluk, Andrew Chiluk, Brandon Chiluk and Christian Chiluk. Step Grandchildren Brandi Musiol, Amanda Musiol, Marty Musiol, Kristie Musiol, nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Vernon Darrell "Darrell" Penland, grandson Joshua Penland, step-granddaughter Ariel Musiol, his siblings Luther Curtis Penland, Ernest McKinley Penland, James Beecher Penland, Grover Penland, David Ray Penland, John William Penland, Virginia Ailene Lindsey, Orman Gene Penland, Delmar Franklin Penland, Iva Lee Raby, and Garlon Daniel Penland.
Visitation will be held at Querhammer and Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake, IL 60014 on Wednesday July 28 from 2:00pm-6:00pm. Services to follow at Querhammer and Flagg Funeral Home at 6:00pm. Burial to be held by Weaver Funeral Home at New Gray Cemetery, 2724 Western Ave, Knoxville, TN 37921 on Saturday July 31, 2021 at 11:00am.
