Funeral service for Mrs. Mavis Brock Taylor, 90 of Piedmont will be Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 2:00p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with her daughter-in-law, Dr. Diane Taylor and the Rev. Rodney Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to services. Mrs. Taylor passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden. She is survived by her children, Eddie W. Taylor (Diane) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Wyvonne Hardin (Gene) of Piedmont, and James Taylor (Cathy) of Garner, N.C.; four grandchildren, David Taylor (Liane), Chad Hardin (Amy), Bobby Hardin (LaVonda), and Rebecca Bass (Joe) ;seven great-grandchildren, Brady Hardin, Katlyn Taylor Bell (Forrest), Kayla Taylor, Taylor Hardin, Mayce Hardin, Ava Beth Hardin and Alexander Bass; two brothers, Wallace Brock (Kimi) and Guy Brock (Omega); and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Mrs. Taylor was a native of Cherokee County and a longtime resident of Piedmont. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and participated in many of the church activities. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing at church . She retired from the Piedmont City School System with many years of service in the cafeteria. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mrs.Taylor was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Taylor; parents, Roy and Ola Brock; and several brothers and sisters. The family ask those attending the visitation and funeral to please wear a mask.
