On Wednesday, July 28, 2021 Ethel Lee (Peggy) "Mawma" Ballard was called home to our Lord after losing her battle with Alzheimer's.

Peggy was born on January 15, 1935 in Howard County to Vallie and Kim Long.

She married James (Bob) "Pa" Ballard on January 25, 1953, making their home in Big Spring.

During her lifetime Peggy was a homemaker.

She baby sat more than 65 children over the years. She loved each of these as her own, and will be remembered lovingly as Mawma to each of them.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Ballard; parents, Vallie and Kim Long; two sisters, Geraldine Stroud and Clairese Hale; an infant son, Leslie Ballard; a granddaughter, Alisha Johnson, and a great granddaughter, Madysyn Hillger.

Peggy is survived by daughters, Lawanda Brewer and husband Thomas, Debra Hillger and husband David. Peggy and Bob were blessed with 3 children, 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 2, 2021 at 10:00AM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
