After a courageous four-year battle with cancer Dwayne Allen Brown went home to meet his Creator and Savior on July 29, 2021, at the age of 69. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).

Dwayne Allen Brown was born April 14, 1952, in Odessa, Texas to parents, Steve and Mary Jane Brown. He was one of six boys, which included two sets of twins, and grew up in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

On June 23, 1973, Dwayne married the love of his life, Shirley Marie (Calvin) Brown, in Sterling, Illinois. Together they had two children: daughter, Katrina Lynn and son, Richard Dwayne. With their two children, they moved from Illinois to Bethany, Oklahoma where they raised their family and established a home for themselves, their children, and their grandchildren.

Dwayne was a husband, a dad, a papa, a brother, a son, and a friend. He touched the lives of many people with his generosity and eagerness to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, surprising his wife to make both ordinary and eventful days special and memorable, taking trips with his wife and family, celebrating with birthday and holiday traditions and creating fun moments and lasting memories with his grandkids. He also enjoyed playing the piano, lawn and gardening, practicing photography, woodworking and furniture building, golfing, fishing, laughing, and sharing his trademark humor. He liked ham like a child likes candy, enjoyed handfuls of M&Ms, sharing and chuckling at jokes, creative problem solving, and reminding us that "Dad knows best but nobody listens." He was a faithful employee for Mercy Hospital, where he enjoyed both his job and his relationships with his boss, team, and coworkers. In all that he did, he was selfless, generous, loyal, and dependable. He worked hard, never sought recognition, and always put others first. He enjoyed celebrating and encouraging others while he quietly played the supporting role.

Dwayne is survived by his best friend and wife of forty-eight years, Shirley Brown. He is also survived by his daughter, Katrina (Brown) Yarbrough and husband Danny; his son, Richard Brown and wife Tiffany; grandchildren, Dylan, Landon, and Braden Yarbrough, Ethan and Wyatt Brown, Tyler Cunningham, and Janessa, Hailey, and Madison Brown; older brother, Dale Brown, twin brother, Darrell Brown; younger brother, Doug Brown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary Brown, and brothers, David and Doyle Brown.

Visitation will be Sunday, 2-8pm at Mercer-Adams. A graveside service will be held at Bethany Cemetery on Monday, August 2, at 10:00am.
