Rita Sue King, 63, of Jay, Oklahoma went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born on October 19, 1957 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Martin King and Lucy (Grass) King. Rita was a proud member of Round Springs Baptist Church and was a first language fluent Cherokee speaker. Rita loved the Lord and enjoyed Cherokee singing. She grew up in the Salina, Oklahoma area before moving to Jay, Oklahoma.

Rita was employed with Jay Public Schools for 26 years as a Computer Lab Assistant & Cherokee Language Program Instructor. She loved teaching the Cherokee language and working with her co-workers and all of her students.

Rita also enjoyed spending time with all her family, especially hosting celebrations and gatherings at her home. She was a great cook and had a green thumb when it came to her plants and flowers. Rita had a big loving, compassionate, and generous heart for others, especially children. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and having her own yard sales, mostly to visit with everyone who stopped to shop.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Lucy King; brothers, Donald King, Johnny King and sister, Betty King.

Rita is survived by her son, Randon Chad King of the home; 2 grandchildren, Kaleb King and Sierra Reasor; 3 brothers, Rev. Rufus King and wife Melvina of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Roy King and wife Deloris of Jay, Oklahoma, Jim King of Jay, Oklahoma; 2 sisters, Nancy Soldier and husband Rev. Richard of Jay, Oklahoma, Grace Nichols of Jay, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rita's family visitation to greet friends will be held on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Lawson's Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK. Rita's Celebration Of Life Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, 2:00pm, July 31, 2021 at Jay Bulldog Arena with Rev. Richard Soldier and Pastor Stanley Grass Officiating. Burial will be at Grass Cemetery, Salina, OK.
