Judith Ann Thompson (Sande)

Judy passed away from complications of cancer on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.

Judy was born on July 10th, 1940 in Ostrander, MN to Harris and Patricia (Kavanaugh) Sande.

Judy's early years were spent in the Wykoff area as well and Rock Island, IL. By age 11 she came back to Wykoff to live with her grandparents. She graduated from Wykoff High School in 1958.

She worked at the local grocery store and did bookkeeping for the Wykoff lumber yard.

She met the love of her life, Richard Thompson at Wykoff High School, and they married June 14th, 1958 at the Wykoff Methodist Church. They made their home in Wykoff, MN. Dick & Judy had 3 children Chris, Kim and Rod.

Judy joined the family business, Thompson Motors, and worked alongside 3 generations of family in the business.

She also ran the family's homes in Wykoff and Arden Hills, MN. Her ability to gently rule the roost and see what was important in life was her trademark.

Judy understood and cultivated many friendships and personal relationships. If you met her for a moment or a lifetime you felt she was in your corner.

Judy held several positions in her church as well as being a member of the United Methodist women. Her work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for many years reflected her desire to help those afflicted by the disease. Both Chris & Kim were affected by CF.

Judy loved the many trips she took with Dick. Cruises, trips abroad and domestic adventures as well. She also enjoyed time at her family lake home with friends and family. Many stories and pictures of Judy on these adventures show her love of life and adventure.

Judy is survived by her son Rod (Annie) of Wykoff, her granddaughters Rachel (Lee) Miller and Carly Thompson, great-grandson Lincoln Miller, as well as her sister Lynda Hyberger (Dave Haagensen) and brother-in-law Vernon Thompson.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband Dick, her son Chris, daughter Kim and sisters Diana and Sarah.

The family prefers any memorials be made to Wykoff United Methodist Church, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the VHL Alliance.

Funeral services for Judy will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, MN with Rev. Amanda Larsen officiating. Visitation will be held from 11-1 p.m. at the church on Friday. Burial will be held at Wykoff Cemetery.
