SEPTEMBER 27, 1921 – JULY 24, 2021
Carlos was born September 27, 1921, in Puruandiro, Michoacan to Francisco Tenorio and Esperanza Ortega Tenorio. He would have been 100 years old this September. Carlos was the oldest of eight children, Francisco Tenorio (deceased), Salvador Tenorio (deceased), Demetrio Tenorio (deceased), Trino Tenorio (deceased), Lupita Gallardo Tenorio, Miguel Tenorio and Carlos Martinez, all from Mexico. Carlos passed peacefully at home surrounded by his children on July 24, 2021.
In 1946 he enlisted in the Bracero program and was assigned to work for the Railroad. He worked laying track from Cajon Pass and ended up in Winslow Arizona. It was in Winslow where he met and married Socorro "Cora" Ruiz Lemus. She passed in June of 2002.
Carlos left the track department and transferred to the Winslow Roundhouse. In 1948 he was laid off. His Supervisor asked him if he was willing to move to Barstow. Carlos was given a train pass and reported for work as a laborer and made Barstow his home. He worked side jobs to supplement his income. From mopping floors, digging trenches for plumbers, Plastering , and working as a Bouncer.
Carlos is survived by his children. Richard R, Lemus and spouse Rose, Hope Lemus Islas spouse Dave, all of Barstow. Maria Y, Juarez of San Bernardino. Frank R. Lemus of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Joe Lemus and spouse, Veolada. of Kingman, Arizona; he had many grand, great, and great-great grand children.
He is predeceased by his wife Socorro, and their two sons, Charles R. Lemus and Luis R. Lemus
An interment will occur Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Mt View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Rd, Barstow, California.
