Gene Lindsay Marchant, 82, of the 1600 block of Linden Avenue, Chesapeake, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday July, 26 2021. A native of Columbus, North Dakota, He proudly served over twenty years in the United States Navy followed by a second career in civil service.

He is survived by his children Jennifer M. Stevens and her husband, Greg, of Orlando FL; two sons, William Ervin Marchant and significant other, Denise, of Chesapeake, VA and Edward Lindsay Marchant and wife, Cyndi, of Currituck, N.C. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Samantha, Lindsay, Kristen, Alexis, William, Mark, Meaghan, John, Michael and Megan; sister, Kay Leidy of Wilton, ND; sister-in-law, Dorothy Bishop and husband, Ralph, of Lebanon, TN, and a special niece, Tanya Schrage and husband, Kyle, and their children of Lebanon, TN and a host of nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Gibson Marchant and his mother, Clara Westerness.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 12 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel with Pastor Richard Saul officiating. The burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
