Leslie "Les" Turner, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021, in San Angelo.

Public viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM Friday, July 30, 2021, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Miles Cemetery with Chaplain William Rosser, chaplain at Interim Hospice and Les' nephew, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 Pm Friday, July 30, 2021, at the funeral home.

Mr. Turner was born November 4, 1940 in San Angelo to Lillie and Maxwell Turner.

He was raised on the family ranch between Carlsbad and Water Valley with his brother, Roscoe.

Les graduated from Water Valley High School in 1959. He received his associates degree from San Angelo College and received his BA in business from Southwest Texas State University.

Les married Carolyn Rosser on October 19, 1963 in Miles.

Les was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict as a Green Beret in the 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and the 3rd Special Forces Group in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

Les was a lifelong resident of the Carlsbad area where he continued the family ranching tradition. He retired from the San Angelo State School where he worked for over 30 years. Les was a volunteer for the Meals for the Elderly and served on the Human Rights Committees at the San Angelo State School after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Turner; a daughter, Cindy Turner and husband David Skains; a brother, Roscoe Turner; a granddaughter, Rosa Rodela; 3 sisters-in-law, Joann Rosser, Trish Green, and Deb Turner; two nieces, Monica Robinson; Elizabeth Turner; a nephew, Stetson Turner; special nieces and nephews, William and Gwyn Rosser, James and Joellen Rosser, Elaine and Charles Baca, James and Ada Rosser, Rebekah and Steve Strain, Teresa and Ricky Horne, Sherrill Thurber, and their families.

Les was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Jennifer Turner in 1992.

Memorials may be made to Meals for the Elderly or a favorite charity.
