Mona Fay Hodson was born July 21, 1934 to Ernest James Peppard and Mollie Gwendolyn Ledbetter in Santa Barbara, California. Mona had one sister; Betty Mae who was 10 years older than her.
Her mother had several little restaurants over time in Santa Barbara and Mona loved the Malts her mother made and being on the beach.
Mona and Leo Hodson moved to Weaverville around 1979. Mona went to work for the county and enjoyed the coworkers that she worked with.
Mona's husband Leo Hodson preceded her in death in 1994, and she missed him immensely. She had no children of her own and treated Leo's four daughters as her own. Her niece Gwen Gaspard and her family also meant a lot to Mona.
Mona loved to have company and as long as she was able, she made annual trips to Washington State to see "Her Girls". When she could no longer travel the girls tried to get to Weaverville as much as possible.
Two of "Her Girls" Becky and Karen preceded Mona in death. Jason Hodson, a grandson remains in Trinity County.
Several neighbors were a great help to her the last years she was in her own home. The last two years of Mona's life she lived at Serenity Gardens in Redding. She came to love the staff and people there and considered them her family too.
