Barbara Ann Crowell, 80, of Otterville, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Fair View Nursing Home surrounded by her pastor, her husband and daughter.

She was born July 23, 1941, in Sedalia, a daughter of James and Mary Ann (Fair) Roark. On December 31, 1957, in Sedalia, she was married and he survives.

Barbara was a career military wife. This allowed them to travel to England, Ireland, Scotland and France. While living in Rapid City, South Dakota, she ran Taylor's Restaurant. After they retired at age 55 and 48, she and Jack purchased an RV and traveled all 50 states, some several times. She collected rocks from each state she visited.

Barbara was a woman of strong faith and was a very active member of New Hope Baptist Church from 1974 to 1990 and First Baptist Church in Otterville, where she served as a Sunday School teacher 1990 to 2017, sang in the choir and helped with Judgment House. She taught some level of Sunday School for over 50 years between the two churches. She continued to witness while in the nursing home and never stopped working for the Lord. God and her family were everything to her. She also worked at the Christian Book Store in Sedalia for several years.

Barbara was an epic cook who enjoyed throwing huge dinners and barbecues. She loved growing beautiful flowers in her large flower garden every year and also had a large vegetable garden every year.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by a daughter, grandson, two great-granddaughters, a sister, a brother, nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Heineman; step-father, Albert Heineman; father, James Roark; son, Randy Crowell; daughter, Mary McDaniel Ivey; and brother, Leroy Roark.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Heckart Funeral Home, with Rev. Russ Slocum officiating.
