He was born in Springville, and was a son of the late Willie Lee Bailey and Stella Harman.
Mr. Bailey was self-employed, was of the Protestant faith, and served in the U.S. Army-Air Force during World War II. While in service he was a radio operator having served in France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Survivors include: Brothers, Ben Tom Bailey Sr. of Springville, Lee Stuart Bailey and wife Virgie of Bluefield, Frank Bailey and wife Louise of Springville; sisters, Mary Puckett and husband Lee of Bluefield and Frances Shannon of Mt. Airy, Md.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with the Rev. Robert Buckles officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
