They lived in France.
They had 6 Children:

Amélie-Sarah, 1822-1858, married A. A. Boutroy
Frederic Guillaume (William), 1823-1910; married Maria McLean.
Charles Joshua, 1825-1891, Artist/painter; married Marie Antoinette Jeanne Rüttre.
Adèle Olympe, 1829-1910, married William Charles Wellington Priestley.
There was a "Family book" written by descendants of Charles Joshua Chaplin about the some of the family genealogy, the Domergue and the Chaplin family. In that book they say that the parents of John Chaplin 1787-1849 were John Chaplin 1755-1829 and Ann Elizabeth Smith 1760-1833. I was able to find some records to confirm. The most important one was the Will of John Chaplin 1755-1829 where he mentions his son "John Chaplin and his wife Adele". They also had a photo of a painting of John Chaplin with the date "1755-1829".
John Chaplin was buried 25 Jun 1849.
