Charles Leslie Sutton passed away at his residence in Knoxville, Tennessee on Saturday, July 24, 2021 after a prolonged illness.

He was the son of Paul and Bertha Sutton of Massena, New York who preceded him in death. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Brown Sutton and a sister, Ann Sutton Cooper, a brother, John Paul Sutton, a son-in-law, Larry Griffin, a great grandson, Liam Davis, and a great granddaughter, Madelyn Lewis.

Charles is survived by his wife of sixteen years Phoebe Greene Sutton; his children: Nancy Sutton Davis and husband Dan, Kathy Sutton Lackey and husband Don, Mary Beth Sutton Griffin, Leslie Sutton Lewis and husband Ray, and Robert Charles Sutton and wife Kim, and stepdaughter, Kristi Alsip; his grandchildren: David Davis (Carolyn), Michael Davis (Lauren), Joshua Davis (Heather), Caleb Davis (Reaghan), Brian Lackey, Brad Lackey (Kelly), Scott Lackey (Sara), Dale Griffin (Paula), Melissa Thomas (Bubba), Kimberly Lewis, Jennifer Mulford (Seth), Christopher Lewis (Amber), Amber Bowman (Micah), Amanda LaMantia (Jeff), Jonathan Sutton (Jessica), Ashley Lanpher (Donnie), and Alexandra Alsip; and 37 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Charles led an active life. He was an electrical relay technician by trade, but never stopped finding projects to do. After he "retired" he continued to work a number of jobs including driving Uber and volunteer work with mobile meals and NHC Farragut. He loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. He loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them. Charles was a member of Smithwood Baptist Church and has always made his faith an important part of his life.

Receiving of Friends will be held at Smithwood Baptist Church at 2 pm on Friday, July 30, 2021, with the Celebration of Life following at 3 pm with the Pastor Robert Sutton officiating. Graveside service will be held at Laurel Hills Cemetery in Young Harris, GA on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 1 pm.
