Steven Lloyd Wakefield, of Double Springs, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at DCH Regional Medical Center, in Tuscaloosa, after his battle with cancer.

He graduated from Winston County High School in 1983 and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Double Springs.

Steven worked 35 years for the Alabama Department of Transportation, in many positions and offices during his career. From 1985-1989, he worked as the Highway Maintenance Technician in Hamilton. From 1989-1996, he worked as the Stock Clerk in Tuscumbia. From 1996-2000, he worked as the Stock Clerk & Acting Warehouse Superintendent in Birmingham. From 2000-2015 he worked Warehouse Superintendent in Tuscumbia. From 2015 until his retirement in May of 2020, he worked as the Equipment Maintenance Manager in Fayette. Steven made lots of lifelong friends over the years, through his work with ALDOT. He loved them all dearly.

Steven loved Alabama football, playing golf, hunting, and working with flowers, but most of all, Steven loved his family and friends and spending time with them, and loved his son. Steven loved life and was always a friend to everyone, and always had a smile on his face.

Steven was preceded in death by his beloved son, Bradley Wakefield, and his parents, Lloyd Isaac "Buck" Wakefield and Jean Wakefield.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 6:00 pm- 8:00pm at First Baptist Church Double Springs with funeral services on Friday, July 30, 2021, at 1:00 pm. Burial will be at Winston Memorial Cemetery. Nichols Funeral Home is directing.
