He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in the Korean War and earning the Korean Service Medal. He also received the National Defense Service, Good Conduct and United Nations Medals.
After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he attended and graduated from Guilford College, Greensboro, NC. He was employed with The Hartford Insurance from which he retired after 36 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Patricia Paschal; stepchildren, Michael Parker (Kimberly), David Parker, Elizabeth Parker and Suzanne Batey (Thomas); five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; nephews, Mark Paschal, James Paschal and Scott Paschal.
He was predeceased by siblings, George Paschal, Archie Paschal and Mary Jane Buckner.
A private service will take place at a later date in Fort Jackson National Cemetery where Mr. Paschal will be interred with military honors. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
