Obituary for Regina Yvonne Myers Jackson
On October 3, 1952, Regina Yvonne Myers made her bold entrance into the world at Bellevue Hospital in New York City as the third child to Reginald & Dorothy Myers. She grew up during her early childhood and youth on the Lower East Side of Manhattan with her parents and her loving sisters Sandra (Sandi) and Cheryl.

"Gina" as she was often called, excelled in the arts while she made her way through the New York City Public School #34; as she grew up, she developed a passion for music, dancing and singing and participated in numerous school plays when she would display her creative talent in dancing and singing. She also was a member of a neighborhood singing group which won many awards in talent show competitions over the years.

Following her graduation from Washington Irving High School, she attended a local community college. She later became the dancing director for the Young & Restless Dance Ensemble which taught 13-18 year old girls and boys, the art of modern and interpretive jazz dance. Gina was a wonderful role model and an inspiration to many of her students and under her leadership, the dance ensemble toured throughout the Metropolitan New York area including the Bronx, Westchester and other areas. Over many years, she inspired and expanded the "world view" of her beloved students.

As she continued her career, life's challenges confronted her and unfortunately, she was overcome with substance abuse; however she decided to tackle it head-on by entering an in-patient rehabilitation facility. As fate would have it, during that rehab period is when she was transformed into the amazing woman that God created and met her future husband as well, Thomas Jackson II. They were married on May 8, 1990 and began their life anew with their blended family of four children, Thomas III, Star, and twin boys Kevin and Devin. As a new loving family, they faced the world's trials together.

Gina later launched a new career in 1990 with Allegiance Telecom and was the first and only African American Senior Director at that time. All of the team who worked with and for her, admired Gina's grace, confidence, boldness, humor and fortitude. During her tenure in corporate America, she began to use her creative talents in a different career by becoming an entrepreneur. In 1989, the family moved from New York City to the Bay area on the west coast where Thomas and Gina launched their initial business venture selling figurines which was quite successful.

After a few years, they decided to relocate to the Dallas area in 1997 where Gina expanded her designer talent and began creating bold, beautiful, self-affirming clothing for plus size women. Thus, "Sultry Touch Collection" was created with her husband Thomas in 1998 and for over 20 plus years, they owned and operated a successful clothing line that was showcased around the country at numerous festivals and events including the Essence Music Festival, National Black Theatre Arts Festival, Pan African Film Festival, Capital Jazz Festival, State Fair of Texas and many other national events.

Following a recent relapse, Regina was called home to be with the Lord on July 13, 2021. She fought a good fight as she joins her parents, Reginald and Dorothy Myers and her sister Cheryl as they rejoice in Heaven. She leaves to cherish her memories; her loving husband, Thomas; her beloved children, Thomas Jackson III {Jeaniene), Star Regine Butler (Larry), Kevin Jackson (Melvin), and Devin Jackson; her sister, Sandi Myers; eight grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Darren, Anton, Nakiya, Imani, Joel, Aniya, Kashston and Star Londyn; sisters-in-law, Mina, Sandra, Delores, Diane, Aline, Anita, and Michell; brothers-in-law, Willie B, Samuel and Ronald; nieces KyShanna and KySchell; and a host of other nieces and nephews, great nieces/nephews, close friends and business associates. Regina will always be remembered for her strength, her poise, her sense of humor, her wisdom, her hard work, her inner and outer beauty and her dedication to her family. We will forever love you Sweet Lady and you will be missed but never forgotten!
