Dot, 89, of Pine Prairie, returned to Prairie Manor to complete the last four weeks of her life, before her final retirement on Sunday, July 25, 2021. She was born September 14, 1931, in Pine Prairie to the union of Robert McDaniel and Felicia (DeVillier) McDaniel.

Before retiring, Dot worked at the Prairie Manor Nursing Home for 26 years as a Social Service Director and she was one of the original employees. She was the youngest of 14 children. Dot was a big hunter and loved the outdoors.
Dot and her husband, Jack, restored the Campbell Home in Pine Prairie. She enjoyed working in her ceramic shop, she loved collecting antiques, and researching her ancestry. Her sense of humor and fondness for making people laugh was legendary. She was well known for never failing to help anyone in need and taught that lesson to all her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Felicia McDaniel; she was the last of her thirteen brothers and sisters.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 44 years, Jack Stevens of Pine Prairie; two sons, Mack Daniel (Erica) Evans and Jerry Evans all of Pine Prairie; three daughters, Karen Renee' Swaine of Pine Prairie, Melanie Evans (Anthony) Treme of Point Blue, and Melissa Evans (Greg) Elliott of Pine Prairie; two stepchildren, Mark Stevens and Janet Stevens Dickerson both of Lafayette; twelve grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Pallbearers to serve will be Josh McDaniel, Ethan McDaniel, Kyle Peterson, Micah Branton, Luke Soileau, and Kenneth Tate Evans. Honorary pallbearer to serve will be Brody Dan Evans.

Our family would like to extend our love and appreciation to Guardian Hospice, especially Elexis and the staff of Prairie Manor. Our mom departed this world knowing that she was cherished and loved by her family, friends, and care givers, for that each of us is extremely appreciative.

Donation may be made to Prairie Manor Nursing Home, in memory of Dot Stevens Staff Appreciation Fund!
