Born in Milford, DE on August 21, 1948, he was a son of Harriet (Spayd) Porter and the late Charles W. Porter, Sr. Charlie proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked General Motors as a metal finisher until his retirement.
In his spare time, he enjoyed working, driving, and riding in his 1964 Stringray Corvette. Charlie was a huge Philly Sports fan and enjoyed watching thoroughbred horse racing. An avid gardener, he spent much of his time tending to his robust vegetable garden. When not in his garden, Charlie could be found making improvements to his home and was considered a "Jack of all Trades'. Charlie prided himself on his ability to fix anything. Above all, he loved his family and time spent when they could all come together.

Porter of Smyrna and Amy L. Kunkle of Wilmington; brothers, Kenneth A. Porter (Gail) of Kingsport, TN, Robert A. Porter (Maureen) of Wilmington, and David B. Porter of Wilmington; grandson, Jason C.
