Bruce Wayne Young of Norristown, PA passed away on July 23, 2021 at the age of 76.

Bruce was a graduate of Norristown High School, Class of 1962. Bruce was known as an exceptional athlete. It started with Little League Baseball, and then continued at Norristown High School as the basketball team's star guard, winning Suburban 1 and District 1 Championships in 1961 and State Final runner-up in 1962. He was known for his "ups" on the court and took great pride in the fact that his granddaughters followed in his footsteps!

After high school, Bruce worked at the Goodrich Tire Company in Oaks, PA until 1994. Then he segued to Merck and Co., retiring in 2010.

His competitive nature never waned, whether it be flag football with the Norristown Raiders, on the tennis court or the greens of the golf course. Golf ultimately became the sport he loved to play the most. Those who played with or against have many tales to tell, and his closest friend and brother-in-law, Curtis Hicks was normally by his side and co-star of those tales! Bruce not only considered himself a master on the greens but of the board game Shogun. A visit with Bruce ultimately ended up playing the game and probably leaving as his next victim. He was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan and would defend them against any and everybody! What many may not have known is that Bruce was Homecoming King his Senior year. He also was a talented charcoal and pencil artist! If you were fortunate to know Bruce, you knew that he was always genuine in his actions, words and treatment of people. He spoke the truth and you always knew where you stood. Memories of him normally bring laughter! Bruce took pride in being a "girl dad!" While his exterior may have appeared rough and stoic, inside lived a safe, soft place for Beth.

Bruce was born November 16, 1944 to the late Samuel Bruce and Earlene Beatrice (nee Robinson) Young. Bruce was the beloved husband of the late Marsha S. (nee Mobley); devoted father of Beth Whitney Goodman (Gordon); cherished and adored grandfather of Jana and Tracey Goodman; dear brother of the late Mary V. Mangum, Tyreta Jefferson (Dempsey) and Gail T. Young-Davis (Ronald); and a loving host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to Bruce's Life Celebration on Thursday, July 29th at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home at 200 W. Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA. The viewing will be from 9 - 11am. The celebration follows immediately after. Interment will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
