Alvin Michael "Mike" Morton, 76, of Franklinton, passed away on July 25, 2021. He was born on August 9, 1944 to the late Elmo and Thelma Dickerson Morton. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Brenda Merritt Morton; a son, Michael Todd Morton; and brothers, Thomas Elmo "Tommy" Morton, and Steven Brent Morton.
Mike is survived by his sons, Scott Morton and Dusty Morton (Donna Godfrey Allen); grandsons, Cody, Colton, and Caleb Morton; and a special niece, Kim Edwards (Toby).
Mike was a lifelong Franklinton resident, he retired from the Wake Finishing Plant of Burlington Industries where he was the planning manager and then worked with the Town of Franklinton as the Code Officer and then Town Manager. Mike coached Lion's Club Football for many years and was still known to this day as "Coach". He was a community minded man, always looking out for the children of Franklinton and anyone that needed a hand or a ride. Mike loved time with his family, whether it be riding around or eating dinner with Brenda, or spending time with his grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45pm on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Lancaster's Franklinton Chapel, 504 East Mason St. Franklinton, NC 27525, where a funeral service will be held 2:00pm with Reverend David Averette officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
