Mary Beth Anthony, 67, of Wendell, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 25, 2021. Mary Beth was born in Knightdale on October 13, 1953 to the late Eugene H. "Gene" and Doris Robertson Anthony.
Mary Beth was born and raised in one of the oldest houses on First Avenue in Knightdale. As a child, Mary Beth and her family traveled extensively each summer. Mary Beth graduated from Vaiden Whitley High School in 1972. She became a CNA and worked for Britthaven Nursing home in Raleigh and later worked for North Carolina Department of Revenue. In 2018, Mary Beth was diagnosed with uterine cancer, and has bravely fought cancer for several years.
Mary Beth is survived by her daughters: Mary Catherine Jones of Smithfield and Amanda Lynne Willis and husband, Robert of Smithfield; longtime companion, Eddie Gregory Satterfield of Wendell; grandchildren: Mikeal Dameon Satterfield of Wendell, Brendon Koddi Satterfield and wife, Melanie of Smithfield, Christopher Scott Satterfield of Smithfield, Jaiden Patrick Escobar of Smithfield, Marrisa Diana Escobar of Smithfield, and Hudson Meyer Willis of Smithfield; one great-grandson, Liam Satterfield of Smithfield. She is also survived by her sisters: Margaret Susan Hernandez and husband, Robert of Zebulon, Kathy Gene Richardson and husband, Allen of Zebulon; sister-in-law, Judy Taylor of New Bern; seven nieces and nephews; and fourteen great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Beth was preceded in death by her brother, Zachary Taylor of New Bern.
A service to honor the life of Mary Beth will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Knightdale Baptist Church, 15 Main Street, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial will follow in New Knightdale Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
