Mr. Mitchell was born on August 14, 1934, in Meigs, GA, to the late Albert L. Mitchell and Mae Hall Mitchell. He served his country in the United States Army. On December 31, 1955, he married Jean Collins Mitchell, who survives. He retired from the Torrington Company in Cairo. Bobby was a member of the American Legion and the Reno Community Club. He was a devoted member of Faith Christian Center in Cairo.
Bobby was known for his willingness to give back to the community. He held many fish fry benefits to help others. He was the recipient of the 2000 Community Service Award. He enjoyed his morning trips to Hardees to spend time with his friends. He started Mitchell Lawn Service which will continue by his great-grandson's, Pace, Collin, Paxton and Brody.
Survivors include: his wife, Jean Mitchell of Cairo, GA; children, Richard B. Mitchell of Cairo, GA, James Al Mitchell of Cairo, GA, Sonya H. Mitchell of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Bobby W. Mitchell (Emily) of Cairo, GA, Melissa M. Johnson (Steven Powell) of Cairo, GA, Dallas Johnson (Loren) of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Pace Mitchell, Paxton Mitchell, Collin Johnson, Brody Johnson, all of Cairo, GA; brother, Herschel Mitchell (Lucille) of Fort Meade, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Clara Mitchell Collins, Myrtle Mitchell Hall; and brothers, Roscoe Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell, Wendell Mitchell, W. H. Mitchell and Preston Mitchell.
