A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 17 at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Sandy Young. Burial will follow in the Denton Town Cemetery.
The family will see friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM on Friday, July 16 at Briggs Funeral Home.
Mrs. Johnson was born December 27, 1924 in Rockingham County to William Conrad Glidewell and Susie Richardson Glidewell. She was a graduate of the class of 1944 of High Point College and before her marriage taught school for 1 year in Mayodan. She married Denton native Robert L (Bob) Johnson and moved to Denton where she taught school for 2 years. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Mary Frances Stubbs Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob on November 27, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents and by sisters Doris Lee Glidwell and Edna Hudspeth.
She is survived by her sons, Jon Johnson and wife Ginger and Richard K (Dick) Johnson and wife Sandi all of Denton and Robert L. (Bo) Johnson and wife Debbie of Cornelius; a brother William Conard (Bill) Glidewell of Winterville; grandchildren, Kelly Weaver, Terri Nolasco, Holly Zedorian, Chad Johnson, Stephen Johnson and Allen Johnson; great grandchildren, Caleb Johnson and Camden Weaver; nieces, Susan Copeland and Lisa Warren; nephews, Tommy Hudspeth and Billy Glidewell.
The family would like to thank Edith's caregivers, Juana Eades, Kennie Miller, Jayne Stilwell, Barbara Waynick, Angel Eades, Kelly Weaver and Suzi Fire for their loyal contributions to her care.
