Obituary for Gary Beau Williamson
Beau Williamson passed away Sunday morning, January 19, 2020, in his sleep at home surrounded by family. Beau was born in Houston, Texas on August 21, 1950 to proud parents, Sidney Ross Williamson and Rayma Coleen Adams Williamson.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Ann Simmons Williamson whom he married on June 3, 1970; his much loved son, Christopher Beau Williamson; his sister, Deborah Lynn Robinson (Joel) of Grand Junction, Colorado.

He graduated from John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After High School, he joined the U. S. Navy and served as a Cryptologic Technician for 6 years serving in Alaska, California and in Washington, D.C. Beau and Charlene then moved to Dallas, Texas where he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics and continued his passion for all things technical.

Eventually, he began working for Cisco Systems, where he became the 'de facto' expert of IP Multicast technology. He wrote the book on Multicast then travelled around the United States and the world teaching it. His name became so synonymous with IP Multicast technology, that he earned himself the nickname "Mr. Multicast". Which he bore with pride.

Beau's passion in life came from teaching, telling stories, and making people laugh. Beau was also active in many hobbyist and professional organizations, such as being Founder and President of the DFW Cisco User Group, supporting the CNC lasers at Dallas Maker Space, serving on the Richardson Wireless Klub board, and volunteering at the local Police Department.

He was constantly learning new technologies and software in support of his various hobbies, especially F16 Simulator building. Even after his diagnosis and surgery, he continued posting videos to teach others about various instruments and technologies used in the building of the simulator.

His numerous hobbies included skydiving, golf, biking, skiing, woodworking, scuba diving, music and dancing. His love of flying and travel culminated in the purchase of an airplane which he used to fly Charlene and Chris to every single Major League Baseball stadium. He loved visiting other countries learning languages and customs. And of course, sampling their food.

After being diagnosed with glioblastoma he sat down to create his "bucket list." After struggling with it for a long time and asking a lot of people for input, he realized how blessed his life was and that he had lived his "bucket list."
