Mom loved teaching first grade and retired in 2005 after 7 years with the Sylvania City School District and 19 years with Rialto (Dunn & Trapp) in California. Mom graduated with a Masters of Education from the University of Toledo in August 1983. She enjoyed classic cars and her pride and joy was a 1961 Chevy Impala convertible that she owned to this day. Mom loved her family and was their biggest champion.
Mom's love of family was never more evident than when Regina and she began a yearly family gathering to Northern Michigan to share the sand dunes, pines, lakes and streams from their youth. Thanks to Mom and Regina, today, our children and grandchildren know the joy of being "Up North" and the thrill of plucking a Petosky stone off the beach.
She is survived by her sister, Regina M. Amidon (Richard Bryan); daughter, Kelly (Don) Ruhly; son, John (Janine Ody-Miller) Miller; daughter, Julie (Richard) Gostin; six grandchildren, Jackie Preckler, Nick Ruhly, Jordan Miller, Caitlyn Miller-Olmedo, Auden Gostin, Cameron Gostin and two adorable great-grandchildren, Corbin Ruhly and Quinn Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Arthur S. Miller.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, August 6, 2021, from 2-7:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Paws & Whiskers Cat Shelter 32 Hillwyck Dr Toledo, OH 43615. Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
