Billy Mack Ethridge, 87, of Lake Village, died Thursday, July 22, 2021, at his home. Mr. Ethridge was a native of Drew County, a resident of Lake Village for the past 64 years and a former resident of Dermott. He was a 1952 graduate of Dermott High School and a veteran of the United States Army, where he was a Paratrooper. Mr. Ethridge worked for Alice-Sydney Dryer & Seed Company for over 55 years and was a member of the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Lake Village. Being of Cherokee descent, he was an avid hunter and liked to trophy hunt. He felt that his Cherokee Indian heritage enhanced his ability to hunt and track animals and his proficiency with a bow and rifle. His time spent with his nephews always led to a story, either adventurous or dangerous. He enjoyed sharing stories of his "17 jumps" while serving in the Army, as well as his adventures of hauling catfish with the challenge and super ability to keep the fish alive to their destination. If there was an adventure waiting around the corner, there would be Bill, ready to lead or join.
He is preceded in death by three infant sons, his parents, James & Velma Haven Ethridge, and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ethel Joyce Gladden Ethridge of Lake Village; a grand-son, William Mondragon and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, fellow workers and friends.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Monday, July 26, 2021, at the Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Lake Village, with Bro. Philip Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Dermott Cemetery.
