George David Rock, a trumpet player and vocalist best known for his 1947 recording of ''All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth,'' died Tuesday. He was 68 years old. Mr. Rock performed and clowned for nearly 15 years with Spike Jones and the City Slickers. He left the Jones orchestra in 1960 and formed with his own group, playing in Las Vegas and supplying music for network radio shows.

Mr. Rock was the voice on ''I Saw Mommie Kissing Santa Claus.'' He also recorded ''You Always Hurt the One You Love'' and ''The Glowworm

George Rock was the backbone of one of the most popular bands of the 1940s and '50s. But while he was justly proud of his accomplishments, he was too modest a man to claim his rightful place in the history of popular music. As lead trumpet for Spike Jones & His City Slickers, he largely determined the sound of the zany band and contributed a great deal to their success.

His grandparents, Mr/Mrs Charles Rock, were also Farmer City residents as was his aunt, Edna Rock, a school Teacher and later Farmer City librarian.

A graduate of Moore Township High School in Farmer City, he achieved prominence whtn he joined Spike Jones and the City Slickers. Survivors include a son, Robert Rock of El Toro, California and a daughter, Georgina Rock, a professional singer in the St. Louis area.

In June 1987, he returned to his home town from Virginia City, Nevada. The city council named him "honorary lifetime mayor" and he was grand marshall of the city's sesquicentennial parade.

Mr. Rock's hit record of "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" initially sold 3.5 million records and is still being heard and revived at Christmas time.
