James Martin "Marty" Hess, 71, died Friday, July 23, 2021. He was born on July 29, 1949 in Jefferson County, Kentucky the son of Mildred Johnson Hess.
He spent most of his career in restaurant management and served for 20 years as a volunteer firefighter and trustee for Fern Creek Fire Department. He earned a BA and MA from Morehead State University and was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church.
Marty loved trains, playing cards, UK and family time.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Hamilton Hess; sons, Brian and Adam (Tina Elmore, fiancee); grandchildren, Breanna, Ashley, Brandon, Alyssa and Harley; and brother, Raymond Hess (Diane).
His funeral is 12:00pm Tuesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Penn Run Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-8pm Monday.
