Anthony - On Thursday, July 15, 2021, the golden gates of Heaven were opened as our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, aunt and dear friend, JUANA GARCIA ESCAJEDA, age 105, answered the call of our Lord Jesus Christ and went home to rest. "Juanita", as she was fondly known to family and friends was a lifelong resident of Anthony, born March 29, 1916 to Jose Maria and Francisca Carbajal Garcia. Juanita was a devout member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and had a heart of gold. She will be deeply missed by all.

Those left to mourn her passing include two daughters, Elena Escajeda of Anthony and Emilia Vasquez (Tommy) of Las Cruces; two sons, Enrique Escajeda of Redlands, CA., and Eugenio Escajeda of Anthony, NM., and her son-in-law Luis Munoz of Las Vegas, NV. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Escajeda is now reunited with loved ones, her parents; her husband, Jose Maria Escajeda on January 15, 1996; two daughters, Edelia Munoz in 2021 and Elvira Bejarano in 2020 and her husband, Felix in 2018; great-grandson, Javier Vasquez; a brother Jose Garcia; and 5 sisters, Maria, Leandra and Francisca Garcia, Carmen Vega and Enriqueta Telles.

Visitation for Mrs. Escajeda will begin at 10 AM Saturday, July 31, 2021 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Street in Anthony where Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10:30 AM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with her nephew Reverend John Telles Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Anthony Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers will be Kenneth and Michael Escajeda, Steven Vasquez, Richard Pastran, Joaquin and Jason Telles. Honorary bearers will be Richard Vasquez and Raul Uribe.
