Johnny Wayne Moore, 83, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. He was born on June 17, 1938 to the late John L. Moore and Mary Ella Eggleston Moore. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda C. Moore; a sister, Agnes Moore Jones; and a brother, James Thomas Moore.
Surviving are daughters, Hope Moore (Jerry Perdue) of Martinsville, VA and Michelle Ashworth (Jimmy) of Axton, VA; two grandchildren, Lane Ashworth and Carlee Ashworth; sister, Betty M. Jones of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Ralph C. Moore of Delmar, MD and William L. Moore of Bassett, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Moore was retired from VDOT with over 30 years of service, was of the Christian faith and had served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved his family, running his sawmill, woodworking, fishing, beekeeping, and gardening.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Eggleston Family Cemetery, 2731 Dyer Store Rd., Martinsville, VA 24112 with Minister Dean Ashby officiating. A visitation will be held at the graveside one hour prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and other times at the family residence(s).
