Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Health Source Saginaw. Age 85 years. The daughter of the late Wendall and Olive (Eret) Cross, Mary Jane was born on September 18, 1935. She married Lawrence Townsend in 1964. He predeceased her on January 5, 2014.
Mary Jane was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and current member of Second Presbyterian Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed walking, daily morning coffee at McDonald's, flowers and gardening.
Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Julie and Ray Duve Jr., Saginaw; Jon and Lisa Townsend, Otisville; Andrew and Tina Townsend, Texas; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two siblings, Josie (George) Martinez and Jim (Pat) Cross ; several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Gwen Cross.
Funeral Service will take place 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Rob Schmidt will officiate with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
