Gary served his country in the Army. He was a member of the Shelbyville Jehovah's Witness, and could be found witnessing his faith to others. Gary worked as a masonry and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering in his shed.
Along with his wife, Gary is survived by his children: Elden Rhodes, Pana, IL, Loren Rhodes, Pana, IL, Ferlin (Deanna) Rhodes, Pana, IL, Rhonda (Brian) Barror, Pawleys Island, SC, & Kevin (Krista) Rhodes, Mt. Zion, IL; grandchildren: Erika Wilbur, Brandy (Josh) McCoy, Trisha (Ty) Howard, Shandra Barror, Travis (Jess) Rhodes, Jordan Rhodes, Leanna (Justin) Boykin; several great grandchildren; siblings: Carl (Penny) Rhodes, Shelbyville, Il, Rick Rhodes, Shelbyville, IL, Janet Robertson, Westervelt, IL, & Debbie (Jeff) Stephens, Shelbyville, IL. Along with his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his siblings: Larry Rhodes, Gene Rhodes, Dottie Rhodes, Jerry Rhodes, Ronnie Rhodes, Linda Pauley.
A graveside service in Gary's honor will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in Twin Pines Cemetery, Pana with Tony Rogers officiating.
Memorials in Gary's honor may be made to World Wide Work and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
