Lawrence (Larry) Merle Davis Jr. passed away at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home on Monday, July 19th, 2021 after a brief bout with cancer.

He was born in Jackson, Michigan on July 20th, 1938. He moved to Clearwater, Florida in 1955 with his mother and father, Helen and Merle Davis Sr. and his younger brother Jim Davis. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1956 where he earned varsity letters in baseball, football, and basketball. During High School he met the love of his life, Nancy Schirtz and they were married on February 18th, 1961. He began his life-long career at Carlisle Lincoln Mercury in Clearwater, Florida starting in the Parts Department and eventually being promoted to the position of General Manager during his 38-year career. He retired in 1994 and moved to Maggie Valley, North Carolina with Nancy, and they later relocated to Maryville, Tennessee. In 2020, Larry relocated to Valders, Wisconsin to live with his son Bob and daughter-in-law Cindy Davis.

Larry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending weekly services.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Davis, his father, Merle Davis Sr., his brother, Jim Davis, his nephew, Jimmy Davis and his brother-in-law, Fred Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Davis of Maryville, TN, his son, Bob (Cindy) Davis of Valders, WI, grandsons, Brent (Ashley) Davis of Sheboygan, WI and James (Lauren) Connors of Port Richey, FL and great granddaughter, Ella Albritton of Port Richey, FL. Sisters-in-law, Judy Davis of Fitzgerald, GA, Sandra Knoll Kennedy of Palm Harbor, FL, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas (Thora) Schirtz of Maryville, TN, Chuck (Paula) Schirtz of Mattydale, NY, and Joe Schirtz of Kannapolis, NC along with many nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home in Sheboygan for their care and compassion for Larry during his short stay with them.
