Jerry W. Stewart, died at home July 17, 2021; he was 81.

Jerry was born in Hot Springs, June 3, 1940 to the late Bunny O. and Francis Farmer Stewart. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Kimery and Paula Sandy.

Jerry was a star at the Hot Springs Boys Club in the mid-1950s. A gifted boxer, he was the "Golden Gloves" champion in 1958, shortly before graduating from Hot Springs High. Jerry played softball, shot pool, bowled in a league, could bluff a good card game with the best, but maybe loved golf most of all. He was a caddy for famed gangster, Owney Madden, which he considered a privilege.

A proud veteran, Jerry served in the Navy at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii from 1959 until 1961. Later Jerry served as an Army reserve for the 101st Airborne from 1974- 1975. Jerry worked as a steelworker for many years before his employment at the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center. He retired in 2007.

An avid traveler, Jerry visited much of the United States (often on his motorcycle) and many European countries. Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, and the Netherlands (especially Amsterdam) were some of his favorite destinations. He recalled fondly the time he spent with his sister and her husband, Paula and Wayne, in Bavaria's Black Forest.

Jerry will be missed most by his wife, Angela Stewart; daughter, Terri Elmore; son, J.D. Stewart (Tina), all of Hot Springs; stepdaughter, Melissa Beaton and family of Norton Shores, Michigan; siblings Dorothy "Dot" Mooney, Bud (Sandy) Stewart, Cathy (Larry) Gilbreth, Karen (Wade) Abernathy, and Danny Stewart; brother-in-law, Wayne Sandy; numerous nieces and nephews; and of course, his beloved pup, Molly.

Jerry was blessed with five beautiful granddaughters: Christina Hall, Kim (Chad) Billingsley, Sarah Stewart, Caelan and Kinley Beaton; and three great-grandchildren Emily, Serenity and Asher Billingsley.

Military Honors will begin the 10am Memorial Service at Gross Funeral Home on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
