Carol Thomas, age 71, of Columbia, Missouri passed away on July 21, 2021 at Boone Hospital Center of lung cancer. She was born on April 4, 1950 in Columbia, Missouri, a daughter of the late Dabney and Mary Elizabeth (Gillem) Doty. She was united in marriage to Millard on June 25, 1983 in Columbia, Missouri.

She attended school at University Laboratory School for Elementary and High School. She went on to attend Stephen's College then the University of Missouri where she received a B.S.E, M.A and a Specialist Degree. Carol worked at Renick School and Boise Idaho Elementary as a Kindergarten teacher. She worked as a School Counselor at Bucklin School, New Franklin School and Fatima. Most recently Carol worked for 20 years with the University of Missouri Athletic Department in the PASH program as a Student Athlete Mentor.

She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, traveling and playing Texas Hold'em poker. She was a member of First Christian Church in Columbia, MO, Columbia Fraternal Order of Eagles, Women's Church Softball League and The Missouri State Teachers Association. She was also a Daisy Girl Scout Leader.

Carol is survived by her husband, Millard Thomas; Sons, Matthew Thomas of Marceline, MO and Andrew (Emily) Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA; Daughter, Dodie Elizabeth Palmer of Boise, ID; Brothers, Dabney (Linda) Doty Jr. of Corpus Christy, TX and Alan (Susan) Doty of Portland, OR; Sister, Ann (Rob) Leonard of Fulton, MO; Grandsons, Dax, Owen, Jack and Nathan.

Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 26, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery - Columbia.
