Linda Jean Barrett, of Anderson, S.C., peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Rainey Hospice House, in Anderson, S.C.
Born on August 13, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Griffin Black and Agnes Hunnicutt Black.
Linda retired from Anderson School District 5 after 17 years of honorable and faithful service. She attended West Whitner Baptist Church, and Crossover Community Baptist Church. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She consistently put the interest of her family first and provided unconditional love and spiritual nourishment.
Left to cherish those wonderful memories are her two sons, Randy Barrett USMC, (Ret), and his wife MSgt. Tina Barrett USMC, (Ret) of Jacksonville, N.C., and Russ Hawkins, and his wife Crystal of Starr, S.C.; one daughter, Renee Brown of Anderson S.C; one brother, James Black of Anderson, S.C.; five grandchildren, DaNeshia, Chad (Megan), Tesina, Heather (Hank), and Corey (Bryson); and three great-grandchildren, JuJu, Dylan, and Eli.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Black.
The memorial service will be held Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. David McConnell officiating. The service will be available to view online via the livestream on The McDougald Funeral Home website via the live streaming tab. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
The family wishes to thank the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, S.C., for the care and compassion shown to our family, and most importantly to our mother. We extend our sincere gratitude to The McDougald Funeral Home for taking our momma home.
