Donald worked as a diesel mechanic and was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Special Forces. He was a deacon and member of Carter Christian Church. Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, repairing guns, knives and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Donald's many wonderful memories include his wife of 53 years, Kathy Pope Pierce, of the home; two children, Melanie Harold and husband Danny, of Elizabethton and David Pierce, also of Elizabethton; nine grandchildren, Hunter Pierce, Cole Avis, Owen Marciniak, Kyra Pierce, Shain Pierce, Stella Pierce, Evan Harold, Julia Kellerman and Abby Kellerman; one great grandchild, Remi Pierce; a bonus daughter and granddaughter, Carrie and Gwendolyn Broa; a brother, Gary Wayne Pierce, of Bain Bridge, Ohio; and two sisters, Carol Gallagher and Diana Puleo, both of Elizabethton.
The family will hold a celebration of Donald's life at 4:00 PM on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Carter Christian Church, 1765 Highway 91, Elizabethton, Tennessee 37643, with Mr. Don Brandon officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the church, prior to the service on Monday.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Recovery Soldiers Ministries, 1180 Bristol Highway, Elizabethton, TN 37643 in honor of Donald Pierce.
