Renee Harrison Jackson was born October 9, 1949, the first daughter of Willie Geneva and the late John Harrison of Newport News, Virginia. She departed this life, surrounded by her loved ones, the afternoon of September 10, 2004 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Her early spiritual foundation was established at Emmanuel and Shalom Baptist Churches, after which she embraced Catholicism. At the time of her passing, she was a member of World Outreach Church.

After graduating from Huntington High School in Newport News, Virginia, she received her Bachelor's degree from Virginia State University.

Upon uniting in matrimony to John Edward Minter in 1972, they moved to Murfreesboro. During this union her beloved daughters, Karmen Denise and Kimberly Darlene, were born. Renee and John raised their daughters in a very loving and supportive family unit for more than 25 years. On November 4, 2000 Renee and Warren Jackson were married and remained devoted to each other until her demise.

Renee began an extensive educational career at Bradley Elementary School, followed by tenure at Buchanan School. She was appointed to Rutherford County's initial Teacher's Support Team. During this period, she received both a Masters and Educational Specialist Degree from MTSU, followed by post-graduate study at George Peabody College of Vanderbilt Universtiy.

Her administrtaive career began at Stewartsboro Elementary School, where she served as Assisstant Principal for a number of years. She was appointed principal of the new Rock Springs Elementary School in 1998 and was currently on leave. Her strong belief in education was exhibited daily by her encouraging demeanor and exemplary professionalism.

Rennee was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority-Pi Nu Omega Chapter; a board member of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund of Rutherford County and was the chairperson of the 8th Grade African-American Honors Luncheon. She also worked with United Way and was affiliated with local education organizations and various other civic organizations.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Mrs. W. Geneva Harrison of Newport News, Virginia; loving husband, Warren Jackson; beloved daughters, Karmen Minter of Chicago, Illinois and Kimberly (CeAndre) Perry of Memphis, Tennessee; best friend, Mrs. Joyce Eady; sisters, Geraldine Perry of Newport News, Virginia and Beverly Betz-Zachary of Crofton, Maryland; devoted cousin, Joe Worsley of Silver Springs, Maryland; step-daughters, Paula (Larry) Rollinson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Warnisha (Randy) Woods of Dallas, Texas, Arvella (William) Gardner, and Kenzella (James) Ruffin of Salem, North Carolina; step-son, John Minter, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee; and a multitude of loving and devoted family and friends.
