Alfred H. Crawford passed into glory Oct. 22, 2000, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born Jan. 31, 1920, in Wellston, Oklahoma, he was a 47-year resident of Apple Valley. A retired manager of Victorville-Barstow Truck Lines and a World War II veteran, Alfred was preceded in death by his wife Virginia. He is survived by his eight children: James Crawford of Chesapeake, Va., Alice Jarvis of Apple Valley, Jeffry Crawford of Woodland, Joseph Crawford of Medford, Ore., Aleen Moreland of Wilmington, Alfreda Phillips of Apple Valley, Jerrold Crawford of Victorville, and Alaina de Guire of Apple Valley. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
