Ruth "Ruthe" Elaine Graves, age 97 of Walker, passed away on March 29, 2020 in Walker, Michigan. She was born Ruth Elaine Gill on February 15, 1923 to John and Elizabeth (Keegstra) Gill in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She accepted Christ as her Savior around 10 years old at a Mel Trotter Revival and sang for many years in the Mel Trotter Choir. Ruthe graduated from Davis Tech and Vocational School in 1942. Ruthe worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for Butterworth and St. Mary's Hospitals where she was in charge of the newborn nurseries. She was very active in Calvary Baptist and Rockford Baptist and considered those memberships a very good thing. She sang solos for funerals and weddings for many years. She traveled with Helen Stewart for Christian Women's Club. Ruthe was raised during the depression and knew how to stretch a penny. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Allen) Fels of California; her three granddaughters, Sarah (Adam) Anderson, Brittany (Jason) Stillwagner, and Alexa Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marion E. Laninga; and her brothers, Donald Gill and Harry Gill. Burial took place on Thursday, April 9, 2020 in Rockford Cemetery. Services for Ruth have been postponed. Please check back for any updates.
