Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a helicopter machinist during the Vietnam War. He formerly resided in Pierceton prior to moving to North Manchester.
He worked as a truck driver for multiple companies with his most current being employed with Sweetheimer Trash Removal. Ray enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and hanging out with his many friends at the North Manchester American Legion where he served as an Honor Guard and the Post Chaplain.
Ray is survived by daughters: Melissa (Paul) Tarchala of Ligonier, and Jennifer (Josh) Treat of Goshen; lifetime companion Deborah "Deb" Smith of North Manchester; siblings: Valerie (Bruce) Sweetheimer of Pierceton, Lynette (Bill) Ream of North Webster, Bart (Dawn) Jones of Pierceton, Lorraine (Doug) Green of North Webster and Melanie Burkett of Pierceton. In addition, his is survived by grandchildren: Taylor (Kim), Brenden, Lilyana, Madison, Brock, Andrew, Bentley, Trenton, Conner, Haylee, Cynthia; and great grandchildren, Lincoln, and Griffin. He was preceded in passing by both parents.
