NEWTON, Judy K., age 68, of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at her residence. Judy was born September 11, 1952 to Donald and Betty Patterson in Greenville.

Judy graduated from Brookville High School, class of '70 and attended Sinclair Community College, earning an Associate's degree in accounting in '72. She retired as a librarian from Washington-Centerville Public Library in 2017 after more than 20 years of service. She was a member of the Centerville Grace Church and volunteered many hours to the Women's Center in Kettering.

Loyal, kind, devoted, thoughtful, with a great sense of humor, Judy had a gift for hospitality. She was always thinking of others and tried to make everyone feel very comfortable. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting clothes and baby blankets. She also loved to read a wide variety of genres, especially feel-good fiction. She was very active and appreciated a good hike or bike ride, particularly around Caesar's Creek Lake and Sugarcreek Preserve. As an avid baker, she thought of baking as an art form and prepared everything from cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, Christmas cookies, and pies with intricate lattice work. Many times her baked good items would be present at church functions and other community volunteer events. Among many things, she will be remembered for how much she loved her grandchildren and taking trips to Florida. For many years, it became tradition to travel to Siesta Key with family, which included extended family members, specifically with the goal to achieve some rest and relaxation.

She was preceded in death by her father Donald Patterson. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim; one daughter Melissa (Michael) Honebrink; two grandchildren Nolan & Emslea; her mother Betty Patterson; two brothers Gary (Brenda) Patterson and Joe (Stacy) Patterson; and two sisters Lisa (David) Hannahan and Gail (Mark) Tweeddale.

Funeral services will be held 12 PM Monday, July 26 at Centerville Grace Church, 410 East Social Row Rd, Centerville. Dr. Greg Ryerson will be officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville. The family will receive friends 11 AM -12 PM Monday at the church. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired contributions may be made to TWR (Trans World Radio) Ministries and/or Samaritan's Purse.
