Gerald Sims, age 72, of Ullin, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his residence.
Gerald was born on June 24, 1949 in Elco, Illinois a son of Fred and Betty (Brimm) Sims. He married his wife, a true lady, Sandra Reagan Sims on June 22, 1973. Gerald was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War from May 5, 1969 until May, 3, 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gina (Doug) Dirnberger, and Buffy (Brad) McLaughlin; several grandbabies, Sydnie and Connor Dirnberger, and Collin and Ellary McLaughlin; two brothers, Kenny Sims, and Bruce "Buck" Sims; a sister, Ladonna McNeely; his mother, Betty (Neal) McCormick; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Pearman and his father.
Funeral services for Gerald will be Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 12:00 P.M. at the Cross Road United Methodist Church with Pastor Pete Vinson officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Air Force and Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 VFW.
