Karen Bridges Simmons age 74 of Philadelphia passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 19, 2021. Karen faithfully attended Philadelphia United Methodist Church for 51 years. Throughout that time she taught Sunday school and was committed to service in the church and to the community of Philadelphia. Karen was dedicated to the family business, supporting her husband and sons on the farm as well as operating Simmons Gulf for many years. Karen could be found behind the cash register greeting local customers as well as those traveling through the area. She always had a smile on her face and a very positive attitude, even when things were down. Karen truly had a "sweet, sweet spirit". She was a wonderful wife, and a caring mother and grandmother; her love and kindness were felt by many.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ellanora (Koester) Bridges; brother, Tom Bridges; nephew, Michael Bridges; and sister-in-law, Valerie Bridges. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 51 years, Arthur Simmons; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Courtney Simmons, and John and Kim Simmons; grandchildren, Noah Simmons, Lizabeth Simmons, Camille Simmons, and Calleigh Simmons; brothers and sister-in-law, Steve and Lisa Bridges, David Bridges, and Jon Bridges; several nieces, nephews and special friend, Patsy Davenport.
