Betty passed away peacefully on Monday October 29th at Hospice Wellington surrounded by the ever present and endearing love of her family. She was born in Walkerton, ON 75 years ago.
Betty was predeceased by her best friend, constant companion and beloved husband Albert. Betty's unconditional love will be treasured by her children John (Helen) of Waterloo, Allan of Hamilton and Rhonda of Waterloo. Special memories of Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her seven grandchildren: Thomas, Eric, Heidi, Nicholas, Bennett, Tallis and Cayden. She will be sadly missed by her brother Doug (Pat) Cassidy of Waterloo, and sisters Genevieve Cassidy of Waterloo and Linda Cassidy of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Also missed by her brothers-in-law Alvin (Veronica) Ruetz, Francis (Helen) Ruetz and sisters-in-law Anne Donnelly, Marguerite (John) Duffy, Mary Nuernberger and Shirley Ruetz. Predeceased by her parents Clarence and Lillian (Robinson), sister Shirley Lantz, brothers-in-law William Ruetz, Ed Donnelly, Richard Nuernberger and sister-in- law Patricia Ruetz.
Betty was a founding member of St. Agnes RC Church and a 50 year member of the Catholic Women's League.
The Ruetz family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, (519) 749-8467 on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm with parish prayers at 8:30pm. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 12:45pm then transfer will be made to St. Michaels RC Church (240 Hemlock St. Waterloo) for Betty's funeral mass at 1:30pm. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
