Mrs. Virginia Ann Knight King, age 74 of Summerfield, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health. Born November 17, 1946 in Rockingham County, Virginia was the daughter of the late John William Knight and Trudie Overby Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie Lincoln Knight. Virginia most recently was a member of Center United Methodist Church in Greensboro.

Virginia attended Rowan-Cabarrus Community College where she received her degree in Criminal Justice – Law Enforcement. She spent her career with the Rowan County Sheriff's Department as a Sergeant over Community Services and went on to receive her advanced degree in Law Enforcement. During her time with the Sheriff's Office, she received Deputy of the Year in 1997; the Rowan Optimist Club Law Enforcement Award, Governor Hunt Certificate of Appreciation Award, Landis Pilot Club – Pilot of the Year and many awards from the Rowan County Schools where she taught the D.A.R.E. Program. In her earlier years with the Sheriff's Office, she is remembered for her fine Calligraphy work on Pistol Permits and Notary documents.

In her spare time, Virginia belonged to a quilting group where she made several beautiful handmade quilts. She loved to bake and was very well known for her wonderful homemade cakes. In Rowan County, she will always be remembered for her beautiful of calligraphy. May her light shine bright for those she left behind…

Those left to cherish her memory are her cherished husband of 56 years, Thomas Worley King; her sisters, Judy Knight Moore (Floyd) and Kathy Knight Murray (Michael) and her brother, John William Knight (Mary). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a loving companion, Miss Emee, whom all will miss her dearly.

Visitation for Virginia on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Graveside Service will be at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, 3540 Iron Works Road, Reidsville, NC with Pastor Cecil Donohue, officiating. The family has asked you kindly remember Virginia with memorials in her honor to either Center United Methodist Church, 6142 Lake Brandt Road, Greensboro, NC 27455; Sharon Baptist Church, 3540 Iron Works Road, Reidsville, NC 27329; China Grove United Methodist Church, 110 W.
