Virginia Powers, 94, of Jasper, TN, formerly of Richard City, TN, passed away in Chattanooga, TN, following a short illness on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

The daughter of the late John and Sara Etta Friel Gibson.

Virginia is best known for managing the old Sue's Snack Bar in South Pittsburg, TN. She was a member and a Deacon at Richard City Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 80 years. She was awarded the Golden Patron Award for serving the church and the Women's Ministry for over 50 years. As a young girl, she sang in a gospel quartet. She was a life-long proud South Pittsburg High School Pirate supporter.

She was a member of a bowling team for over 50 years and continued to watch the sport religiously.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Powers, daughter, Sarah Moore, sister, Rebecca Love, brothers, Billy Gene, Homer and Jack Gibson and Bobby Dean Skyles, who was like a son.

Survivors include her son-in-law, John Moore, of Jasper, TN; step-daughter, Evelyn (Marion) Bridges, of Brevard, N.C., step-granddaughter, Heather (Marc) Abbey, of Greenville, S.C., granddaughter, Kimerlen Moore (Tommy Spake), both of Jasper, TN; grandson, Trae Moore (Laura Candler) of Jump-Off, TN; Carolyn Skyles and Angie Hawkins (Aaron) of Hillsboro, TN; who were like a daughter and grand child; step-great-grandchildren, Lauren Baynard and Kaytlin Land; great-grandchildren, Lyrah Spake, Rudy and Margot Moore, Dean and Charlie Hawkins; special nieces, Nancy Humphreys and Jackie Lofty, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg with Reverend Bruce Potter and Minister Randy Smith officiating.

Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. (CST) and on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Humphreys, Bill Norman, Aaron Hawkins, Tommy Spake, Trae Moore and Larry Jones.
