Diane M. Thompson, age 82, of the town of Rome (Nekoosa), passed away on Sunday July 18, 2021 at her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 23, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Rev. John Swing will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church of Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Diane was born June 5, 1939 in Stevens Point to Clements and Gertrude Steffanus. She married Bruce Thompson on May 5, 1970 in Denver, CO. For 27 years she was the head nurse at a nursing home in Aurora, IL and was a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Denver for 10 years.
Diane's greatest joy was making quilts and loved working with quilts with the ladies of the Lutheran church in Rome. Diane and Bruce were married for 51 years. She and Bruce enjoyed traveling and spending two months every year in Yuma, AZ.
She is survived by her husband Bruce Thompson of the town of Rome; children Lance Thompson, Stanley (Carol) Thompson and Ronald (Mary) Thompson; grandchildren John, Jacob, Casey and Mathea; and by her brothers Norman (Janet) Steffanus and LeRoy (Connie) Steffanus.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Mary Ditter (Leander), Gertrude Steffanus, Lorraine Welp (Hilary) and Richard Steffanus.
