Melvalene Evans, age 89, a lifelong resident of Chillicothe and Livingston County, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Hartmann Village Senior Living, Boonville, Missouri.

She was born the daughter of Benjamin and Scottie (Stephens) Beaman on June 15, 1932, in Livingston County, Missouri.

Melvalene was a 1950 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Earl Junior Hicklin on October 20, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1959. She was united in marriage to John Paul Evans on June 8, 1960, in Linneus, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 21, 2012. She was a homemaker and also co-owner of Evans Heating and Cooling, Chillicothe, Missouri, since 1966. She was a life-long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include one brother, Jim Beaman and wife Linda of Chillicothe; one son, Dennis Hicklin and wife Pam of Boonville, Missouri; one daughter, Marlene DeVilbiss and husband Rex of Lee's Summit, Missouri, step-daughter Marilyn Evans and husband Jonathan Hutchins of Kansas City, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Lynda Hicklin of Springdale, Arkansas and Pamela Evans of Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death her parents; husbands; one son, Mike Hicklin, and two step-sons Paul Evans and George Evans; one brother, Virgil Dowell; and two sisters, Betty Eklund and Nilene Lollar.

Graveside services will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. There is no scheduled visitation. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Chillicothe and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
